PROJECT ENGAGEMENT provides food hampers for food insecure families in Toronto

For the second year we have recently gotten involved with Project Engagement, a Toronto-based charity that works to alleviate poverty. The organization, whose annual food drive delivers a month’s supply of healthy fresh and packaged food to 400 families, was co-founded in 2004 by Councillor Michael Thompson and his friend, Vincent Gasparro.

Here’s how we’re getting involved with Project Engagement:

We’re collecting non-perishable food items in our store for the month of December. We also encourage all staff to bring in a canned good for this cause that assists the City’s less fortunate families. We are offering a 2 for 1 brewery tour for any guest that brings in a canned food item before Wednesday Dec 21st.

We’re asking some of our food industry partners to make a donation of food to the charity. Longo’s has generously offered a donation of 400 tins of tomato sauce and reusable grocery bags as well as volunteering employee time to help with the assembly.

We’re loading up a bus with 25 Good Beer Folks to help with holiday hamper sorting, assembly and delivery this Wednesday and Thursday at Ellesmere Community Center. You can come join us on either day to have some fun with us while doing good.

We’re helping to run the logistics for the event: Good Beer Folks Shane and Alex will be onsite to keep us organized and to run the logistics of the volunteer days.

If you’d like to get involved in Project Engagement you can make a food donation at our retail store or come pitch in Wednesday and Thursday at the Ellesmere Community Centre 20 Canadian Rd. Scarborough – Ellesmere & Warden.
