1) Host a BBQ
Send out a last minute FB invite, hit the grocery store, pick up some wobbly pops and gather your friends around for an el-fresco dinner. Check out our top tips for hosting an unforgettable Summer BBQ here.
2) Visit a local brewery
Many breweries are open on holiday Mondays, which means it’s a great opportunity to take a tour, meet the makers of your favorite brew and bring some home with you! Our brewery is open every day of the year except Christmas Day for all of your hydration needs.
3) Take a bike ride
The crisp last weekend of summer is beautiful riding weather. Grab some pals, plan a route, get on your wheels and go. Give your wheels some TLC before you head out at one of our public bike repair stations.
4) Take a hike
Get outside the city and check out the earliest signs of fall. In addition to physical advantages, hiking boasts plenty of mental benefits too. Research shows that spending time outdoors increases your attention span and creative problem-solving skills by as much as 50%. Additionally a Standford study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, found that people who walked for 90 minutes in a natural area, as opposed to participants who walked in a high-traffic urban setting, showed decreased activity in a region of the brain associated with a key factor in depression.
5) Take advantage of a quiet city.
Visit the brunch place that normally has a line up out the door or the craft beer bar you can never get a seat at. Take your time visiting the small independent business in your area or spend the day discovering a new neighborhood. Long weekends are also great time to visit an art gallery or museum and have it to yourself.
However you spend it hope you get a chance to enjoy all of the goodness Canadian summer has to offer.
Cheers!
