Our 1958 Chevy Apache, Retro Electro, has undergone a full transformation, blending its classic design with updated modern electric technology. Thanks to the expertise of Steve Payne and Kyle McDonald from Beachman’s Electric Vehicle Conversion Division, Retro Electro is now more powerful and efficient than ever.
At its core, this truck remains true to its original spirit, but nearly everything has been upgraded to improve performance and drivability. The team at Beachman stripped everything down and modernized it, while staying faithful to Retro’s vintage charm. The fully electric powertrain has been enhanced with a brand-new battery system, doubling its range, and has been equipped with modern regenerative braking to further extend the range of its upgraded battery.
The exterior got some love too with a brand-new truck bed, while inside, the dashboard has been fully restored, now featuring classic chrome knobs for the lights. Though the original EV engine remains the same at heart, but it’s been rewired and simplified for improved reliability. To top it off, Beachman installed top of the line Tesla brakes for better safety and handling.
Retro Electro isn’t just part of Steam Whistle’s Vintage Fleet, it’s a reimagined icon, blending timeless style with the innovation of electric power, ready to be a daily driver all over the city. Keep your eyes peeled, you might just see her rolling through Toronto this summer!
