In 2000, the first bottle of Steam Whistle rolled off the line, marking the beginning of a journey that would shape Canada’s craft beer scene. For 25 years, we’ve been proudly brewing just one beer, our iconic Steam Whistle Pilsner, and doing it really, really well.

Join us as we raise a glass to a quarter-century of great beer, unforgettable memories, and the community that’s made it all possible.

Here’s to the next 25 years and beyond. 🍻

OUR NAME

STEAM WHISTLE signals the reward at the end of the day. Our founders chose the name while imagining a steam whistle calling Toronto to pause work and raise a pint. Today, a historic Canadian Pacific Railway whistle sounds from our roof every day.

OUR BEER

STEAM WHISTLE PILSNER is a timeless classic and Canada’s Premium Beer. We are so proud that our flagship beer is the favourite independent craft brand of Canadians!

OUR MOTTO

DO ONE THING REALLY, REALLY WELL. Steam Whistle is unique in North America and perhaps the world for being a craft brewery that only makes one beer. We are steadfast in our commitment to mastering our craft.

OUR HOME

THE ROUNDHOUSE – Steam Whistle brewery’s landmark location is the retired Canadian Pacific Railway Roundhouse at the foot of the CN Tower. This national historic site is the home of the steam locomotives that connected our nation. And it’s a place where community, culture and craft are celebrated.

OUR FOUNDERS

Steam Whistle was founded around a campfire by three friends on a canoe trip in Ontario, dreaming of building Canada’s most respected brewery. We honour our founders – the THREE FIRED GUYS – Greg Taylor, Cam Heaps, and Greg Cromwell.

OUR FLEET

Steam Whistle’s RETRO VEHICLE FLEET began when Co-Founders Cam and Greg took beat-up white vans to a Toronto graffiti festival. After hearing cheers of “Nice van!” they decided to build a fleet that matched their brand’s nostalgic vibe. Today, classics like the Steam Machine, Retro Electro, and Betty keep that legacy of fun, community, and old-school charm alive.
