Mother’s Day is right around the corner, but we’re not worried. We’ve (mostly) ditched the traditional list of Mother’s Day gifts in favour of Mother’s Day gift ideas that are a little more outside of the box and a lot more exciting. If you’re tired of getting a lacklustre reaction when Mom opens her gift, this list of Mother’s Day gifts is for you (you’re welcome!).
1. Show Her Some Steam Whistle Love
Forget the girly wine products and get Mom something she actually wants for Mother’s Day 2019. Steam Whistle has plenty of products that she definitely won’t be asking you for the gift receipt, and we’re betting this Men of Steam Whistle Calendar may just blow her socks off.
Otherwise, there’s plenty to choose from when it comes to Steam Whistle products, like t-shirts, toques, glassware, soaps, and tons of accessories. Steam Whistle gifts are a great way to surprise her and get her something a little more unique than the standard chocolates or gift card.
2. Take Her to an Iconic T. Dot Dinner
Mother’s Day gifts don’t have to be wrapped up to be special. She probably wants nothing more than to spend time with you (isn’t that what all parents say?), so a Mother’s Day dinner or brunch can be the perfect way to give her some one on one time. Some of Toronto’s top restaurants have Mother’s Day menus, which makes your job quick and easy. All of the Drake spots are offering $39 Mother’s Day meal, Leña has unique Mothers Day specials like soufflé pancakes, mortadella eggs Benedict, and even shrimp ceviche, and St. Regis’ Louis Louis has what they dub “”royal brunch in the sky” for $120 if you’re feeling fancy. If eating out isn’t Mom’s thing, try cooking her a delicious home-cooked meal with these easy and fantastic recipes.
3. Explore the City
If you can’t think of the perfect thing for Mother’s Day gifts, cast a wider net! Toronto is full of fun activities that Mom will love, and she’ll adore the experience of exploring the city with her favourite child. Start Mothers Day off right by picking up these Brewery Tour Passes to see how your favourite pilsner is made, meet the staff at Steam Whistle, and enjoy delicious samples. Other ideas for experiences might be heading to the island, seeing a musical, or maybe even trying out the CN Tower’s Edge Walk if your mom is on the braver side!
4. Send Her Flowers
If you’re not local or you simply want her to wake up to something special, flowers are tried and true Mother’s Day gifts. Flowers might be an obvious choice, but they became that way for a reason: they’re fresh, gorgeous, and never fail to bring a smile to her face. What’s more, flowers are an absolutely, perfectly frivolous indulgence: something that precious few of our precious mothers allow themselves. There are tons of flower shops around the Six, but only the best will do for the woman who brought you into this world. Check out these top shops around the city for bouquets and arrangements that take the flower game to a whole other level.
Whatever you do for Mother’s Day, don’t forget to do your best to show your mom just how much she means to you. And to all you moms out there, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, from all us mother lovers at Steam Whistle!
