Summer days of our childhood seemed long and beautifully listless, but as we’re elbowed into adulthood, our three precious months of summer bliss speed by like a runaway ice cream truck. It sucks, which is why it’s even more important for us to celebrate the last weekend of summer with some serious gusto. Yep–we’re talking about Labour Day, 2019 and like it or not, it’s just around the corner. So, what to do, what to do, to bid farewell to our fair weather season? We’ve got some amazing ideas for just about anyone who takes their summer seriously.

End Summer in the 6ix!

Looking for Labour Day activities in Toronto? There’s no shortage! After all, not everyone heads north on long weekends, and there’s much to be enjoyed in our resplendent city.

The Harbourfront Centre is throwing the Labour Day Weekend Festival, with incredible music performances by some of the biggest voices out there. Featuring talents like TIKA, LOLAA, Angelique Kidjo, Djely Tapa, Jane Bunnett & Maqueque and Kellylee Evans, this fest is definitely the best way to end your summer with a resounding bang.

You can also sit pretty at one of the many patios and restaurants Toronto has to offer, like our brand spanking new Biergarten! Located in our Roundhouse, the Biergarten offers traditional Bavarian communal dining as well as German-inspired fare, with a Canadian twist. We also offer some cool brews on tap, as well as a perfectly curated selection of beer cocktails.

Need your greenspace fix? Head to High Park and wander the gardens, visit the High Park Zoo, take a dip in the pool, get lost in the labyrinth or throw your balls around the tennis courts. There’s lots to see and do in this 400 acre park (which is also one of the city’s oldest), so take the day and bring a picnic! (You can outfit your adventure with one of our sweet, retro coolers--perfectly park-sized!)

Visit the Cottage!

You’ve got one more chance to visit the cottage this summer. Sure, you can go back a few more times in the early fall, but it’s bittersweet, and never quite the same. Pack up the car and your crew and enjoy the last few days of summer perched comfortably lakeside with an ice cold Steam Whistle in hand.

Host a Backyard BBQ

You don’t need a cottage to host one hell of a farewell to summer. Call us and we’ll drop off some brew by the keg or case. Then, fire-up the ol’ BBQ, fill the kiddie pool with some bevvies, and invite your nearest and dearest over for a final hurrah. With a little planning and some help from the Good Beer Folk, your pad could be the place to be this Labour Day 2019.

We’ve given you some amazing ideas, now take action to make it your Labour Day happen. Any age, and any budget, these labour day activities are all solid recommendations for celebrating the last long weekend of the summer. Labour Day 2019 awaits!
