Coming to you from Brooklyn, New York, the Worriers are about to invade the Sled Island stage with their melodic punk tunes!
Worriers is comprised of Lauren Denitzio (vocals, guitarist and songwriter) and other collaborators such as Mikey Erg, Nick Psillas, and Frank Piegaro. You can expect to hear a lot of songs off their 2017 record, Survival Pop and their newly released Survival Pop Extended Version. Survival Pop is an optimistic album for the original Worrier Denitzio; in stark contrast to punks usual politically inspired lyrics. You can expect to be wowed by Denitzios vocal stylings as she takes you through her world of love, loss, honesty and the power of community.
Lauren Denitzio had this to say about her latest record: “I was in a place of wondering, ‘How did I find myself at this point in my life? How have people I know not made it to my age, and how have I managed to do that?’ So I was processing those things, and somehow it came out to be a pretty hopeful-sounding record.” Sounds like summer music to our ears!

About Sled Island
Since 2007, Sled Island has been a hot Indie destination mid-June that showcases fringe artists in music, film, comedy and art. This 5-day festival celebrates creativity by bringing you avant-garde and offbeat performances. Whether you’ve been to Sled Island or not, if you identify as Indie, you appreciate the arts, or if you are simply looking for a new experience, Sled Island is your ticket for an eclectic smorgasbord of all things art.
“No matter how well-versed you already may be when it comes to left-of-the-dial, edgy music, it’s always been a festival of discovery,” says The Calgary Herald. And Steam Whistle is proud to be a headlining Sled Island festival presenter. See you there!
